Terms and Conditions

1. Standards of conduct.

Elaine Soulsby School of Motoring aims to provide a safe, relaxed and non-threatening learning environment to maximise progress for each pupil. The instructor aims to be reliable, punctual, considerate and courteous. In return, similar behaviour will be expected from the pupil. Verbal and physical abuse will NOT be tolerated, and will result in immediate termination of the lesson and of the teaching contract. Pupils should also be in a fit state to drive. Should the instructor have any concerns about this, the lesson will be terminated.

2. Teaching area and lessons.

Lessons will usually be of 1 hour's duration. The teaching area is covered by the Elswick and Longbenton test centres, although this may vary from time to time at the instructor's discretion. For new pupils, the initial pick-up for the first lesson will usually be from the home address, where the details of the provisional license will be verified. Subsequent lessons will commence at a mutually convenient venue.

3. The driving test.

The instructor will recommend booking of the test when the pupil is felt to be ready. There will usually be a 1 hr driving lesson prior to the test, and the instructor's car will also be available for the test itself. Each of these hours will be charged for.

4. Cancellation.

If the pupil wishes to cancel a lesson, the instructor must be notified of this by 9pm the day before. This allows the slot to be offered to another pupil. Cancellations after this, however, will be charged as per a lesson. Should an instructor cancel late, the pupil will be offered a free lesson at a mutually convenient time. (This excludes cancellations as a result of adverse weather conditions, when the lesson will just be rescheduled). Lessons cancelled by the instructor with notice i.e. prior to 9pm the previous day, will be rebooked.

5. Payment.

This is at the beginning of the lesson, either by cheque or cash. Block bookings (which are at discounted rates) are expected to be paid for in their entirety, prior to the first lesson. Should a pupil decide not to continue with a block booking, redeemed lessons will be charged for at the standard (not discounted) rate, and any refund of monies paid upfront will take this into account. A block of 5 lessons should be completed within 6 months. Should a pupil not pay for a lesson, they will not be scheduled for future lessons until payment is fully up to date.

6. Vouchers.

The driving school supplies pre-paid named vouchers suitable as gifts. These lessons should be redeemed within 6 months. Refunds are not available for these.
